It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Holiday Movie Time at Augustine!

Tuesday, Dec 15th, 2020

In between the hustle and bustle that comes this time of year – wrapping up great campaigns, unwrapping client opportunities and making sure the holiday spirit is lighting up hearts and minds, we Auggies, like to unwind with a good holiday movie or two, or three. So, if the weather outside is frightful but your couch is looking oh so delightful, may we suggest you grab your favorite snack and beverage and turn on one of these seasonal favorites suggested by our own holly, jolly staff.

FIRST, LET’S START WITH TWO HOLIDAY MOVIES THAT NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE…

“I’m dreaming of a White Christmas classic…the songs…the dancing…! I can’t get enough of Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. It’s got heart, romance and comedy…what’s not to love!”

– Debbie Augustine, Founder/Executive Creative Director

“It’s a classic that you can always rely on to help you appreciate what you have and drum up the holiday spirit.”

– Cathy Nanadiego, Account Director

NEXT, WE CELEBRATE WITH A FEW THAT COULD BE CONSIDERED CLASSICS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT…

“So many good ones! But I have to go with Elf. It always makes me happy and Will Ferrell is amazing. Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color!?”

– Jaime Hayden, PR & Content Marketing Manager

“I’m kinda obligated to say Home Alone since my name is used throughout.”

– Kevin Nelson, Group Creative Director

“A classic, of course! Though my favorite is actually Home Alone 2 Lost in New York. I grew up having a fascination of visiting NYC just because of this movie.”

– Beatriz McDonald, Social Media & Content Manager

“I like the story of The Polar Express, because it is about self-discovery, reminding us all that the wonder of life never fades away. One can grow out of and yet grow back in to believing in the magic of Christmas.”

– Barbara D’Amato, Global Growth Strategies Board Advisor

“My all-time favorite Christmas movie is A Charlie Brown Christmas. I just love it! A Charlie Brown Christmas is a classic that brings such love to my heart, it’s sweet, cute, and really puts me in the Christmas spirit. Not to mention, perfect for a family movie night 😊.”

– Stephanie Smith, Vice President, Retail Product Brands

“Besides being a classic, it is flat out hilarious, and full of phrases my family and I use. throughout the year. And cousin Eddie, need I say more.”

– Michael Mezzanotte, Vice President/Creative Director

THESE TWO MIGHT PUT YOU ON THE NAUGHTY LIST…

“It’s highly inappropriate, not kid-friendly at all, and not even really about being in the holiday spirit, but Bad Santa is one of the best Christmas movies to date. So, when the kids are asleep, pour a glass of your favorite adult beverage and be ready to laugh the whole way through!”

– Lindsay Moore, Director of Client Services

“There’s plenty of top-notch actors including Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti and Elizabeth Banks that make this one of the most underrated Christmas films of all time. Elements of great comedy, drama and the good ole’ Christmas aesthetic found in typical holiday movies, and the storyline is something that can be amusing for all ages.”

– Jake Poole, Assistant Account Executive

HERE’S A FAIRLY NEW ONE ON THE SCENE AND THE SECOND INSTALLMENT JUST CAME OUT DURING THANKSGIVING…

“Hasn’t every kid wanted to stay up and catch a glimpse of Santa? Mine sure wishes she could! So instead, we’ve settled for watching that happen in this magical story starring Kurt Russell as Santa Claus.”

– Christine Coe, Associate Creative Director/Writer

OF COURSE, WHAT WOULD THE HOLIDAYS BE WITHOUT A LITTLE ROMANCE…

“Any Hallmark Channel holiday movie…I haven’t hated one yet! I would like to live in a Hallmark movie this year more than ever or at least in one of those cute little Hallmark towns. Lol. They make me live in a world of happiness and butterflies.”

– Dani Higley, Sr. Account Executive

“To me, it is perfect. It has every single holiday feel: curated music, breezy comedy, relatable characters, holiday romance, and Emma Thompson. It’s so delightfully saccharine that I often forget it’s a tad naughty too. Let’s just say Uncle Alan isn’t picking holiday movies again this year. At the Alamo Drafthouse, viewers pop confetti champagne during their favorite romantic moment which highlights just how many there are. I always save mine, just in case, for Jamie’s heart-tugging proposal to Aurelia.”

– Alan Eskew, Creative Director

“Cameron Diaz in the middle of nowhere finding the love of her life and learning how to cry (LOL) was just beautiful. This movie is the perfect mixture of romcom, inspiration, humor and holiday feels.”

– Sydnee Prince, Social Media Strategist

“Who doesn’t love Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Cameron Diaz and Jack Black…?”

– Jeff Roberts, Senior Vice President

AND SOME LAST-MINUTE BONUS PICKS…

Miracle on 34th Street

“The movie is beautifully shot and the set designs are exquisite but the best part is the story. People who are skeptical about Santa Claus become believers that he is real.  😊”

– Kathy Norris, Sr. Director

“Joyeux Noël is one of my all-time favorites. It’s a French film that centers around the Christmas Eve truce that occurred on the Western front in December 1914 during World War I. It is a very raw and emotional story and does a great job of showcasing how similar we all are in spite of our perceived differences. It’s a moving message that I think is especially relevant and thought-provoking after the year we’ve had.”

– Gabrielle Burman, Sr. Account Executive

Well, there you have it folks…as you can see, Auggies definitely love the holidays!
